One More Girl
Carly, 20, and Britt, 19, call the beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia home. In just the past year, the girls have accomplished a list of goals. They were signed to a huge label, EMI Canada. Their first album, “Big Sky”, was released in October 2009. They showcased at the CCMA’s in September. The girls have been very busy, opening for artist such as Darius Rucker and Keith Urban.
With their new album out for release and their new single, “Tumblin’ Tears” gaining airplay everyday, the girls are the new face of young country music.
“We’ve worked hard on it and we’re pretty proud of the songs.” says Carly. “So we just hope that it’s relatable and people believe in it as much as we do.”
The girls admit that this is exactly where they have wanted to be since they could talk. Strong family values were the most important aspect of the girls’ childhood. The girls admit they have been performing together since they could remember.
“We succeed together, and we fail together. So it’s like no matter what happens, I know she’s going to stick with me, and she knows I’m going to stick with her,” says Carly.
Their dad, award winning songwriter and producer Tom McKillip, has been with them every step of the way, and produced “Big Sky”.
“I definitely don’t want anyone else producing my album” says Britt. “I mean, he’s the CCMA producer of the year, so we’ve got one of the best producers in the country, and he happens to be our father.”
So much fame so fast is often hard on stars of their same age, but Britt and Carly have taken it very well so far.
“I think that we do bring something different to Canadian country that maybe they haven’t seen in a while, a new sound, and youth, and fun, and energy. And I think it’s going to be fun,” says Carly, smiling.
