Get Involved In Sports

Playing sports is the best way to stay active and have fun. It not only is good for your body, it can teach you skills such as teamwork and leadership, or help you to make friends and meet new people.

By playing sports, you add activity to your everyday life and improve your databank of skills. Being on a team requires a lot of work, and it makes you learn from your mistakes and help others forget theirs.

Sports are also an important activity because colleges and scholarships look for people who have variety in their life. People who aren’t afraid to try new things and work hard to get what they want. By playing on even just one sports team, you prove that you are willing to work together with others to achieve a common goal, much like that in a workplace or college.

Physical activity is what keeps us young. And if you start sports now, there is a good chance that your physical condition will be better in the long run. Sports provide enjoyment, physical activity, and friendship.

All you have to do is sign up for try outs and work your best to get your shot at being on a local sports team.

The Dangers Of Tanning
No one enjoys being pasty white, especially not in the summertime. And admittedly, a tan looks good. It makes your body and even your clothes look better. But teens these days are taking the tanning to extremes. Tanning once a week for even just seven minutes can cause abnormalities under the skin that can turn into cancer.

Skin cancer is very common and very painful. And so easily preventable. Wear sunscreen, sunglasses, stay out of tanning beds, and seek the shade and you should be ok. It’s not like you have to live indoors all the time; that is just ridiculous. Just a couple small, preventative measures can save your life.

By tanning, you are not only increasing your risk of skin cancer, but also aging your skin prematurely because tanning leads to increased wrinkling, loss of skin elasticity, age spots, and keratoses (rough, scaly patches of skin). By staying out of the sun, you are helping yourself stay younger for longer and reducing your risk of skin cancer.

How to Eat Healthy
1.Keep a food journal. It helps you track what you're eating, makes you accountable and makes it easier for you to identify areas for change.
2. Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day.

3. Eat slowly. It's a wonderful way to savour your food – and to eat less. Start by putting your fork down between bites, chewing a bit more or cutting food into smaller pieces.

4. Give in to your love of sweets, but do it with control.

5. Try not to get too hungry. It's best to eat something every three to four hours, which usually translates to three meals and one or two snacks daily. Make a list of healthful snacks.

6.Eat healthful carbs, such as whole grain, low glycemic-index foods, which offer substantial health benefits.

7. Stay well hydrated. The best hydration comes from non-caffeinated, nonalcoholic beverages, soups and watery foods such as fruit and vegetables.

8. Practice portion control – it's vital to weight management. Measure your cereal, pasta and dessert bowls and your drinking glasses, to see how much they actually hold. Psychologically you think you're eating more when you fill a small bowl than when you partially fill a large one.
